What is thrivability?
Thrivability is an overarching desire for life to exist joyfully and indefinitely on Earth. This requires humans to behave in ways that enable everyone to thrive and that don’t jeopardize the Earth’s ability to support life indefinitely.
Key Concepts
“Thrivability emerges from each of us holding the persistent intention to be generative: that is to say, to create more value than we consume.” (Jean Russell)
“The human capacity to lead a flourishing, joyful, loving life in co-emergence with one’s living environment.” (Alexander Laszlo)
“We define it as the intention and practice of aligning organizations with how living systems thrive and how people thrive. It’s the recognition that organizations work the same way living systems do – living systems like our bodies, rain forests, and coral reefs – because they are living systems.” (Michelle Holliday)
